Chase Briscoe playfully teased Christopher Bell in light of the upcoming big announcement from 23XI Racing. The 29-year-old NASCAR driver shared a post on social media, highlighting 23XI’s hint about the significant news set to be revealed on Wednesday. In the caption, Briscoe jokingly called out Bell for possibly letting the news slip.
“Don’t let [Christoper Bell] near a mic,” Briscoe wrote.
Briscoe commented on Bell’s accidental revelation that he would be joining Joe Gibbs Racing in 2025. Back in June, Bell mentioned to reporters, “Whenever Chase comes into the car…” just before Briscoe was announced as the replacement for Martin Truex Jr., who is retiring.
“Christopher texted me and said he really messed up,” Briscoe recalled, according to ESPN. “I asked him what happened, and he told me to check Twitter. I had no signal after running a sprint car race the night before, so I couldn’t send or receive texts. The last message I got was Christopher saying, ‘I messed up, go look at Twitter.’”
Briscoe discussed his friendship with Bell, highlighting their bond. “If it weren’t for Christopher, I might not even be in NASCAR,” he said. “I met him around age 12, and we’ve been friends since then, racing online and even living together for a while.”
When the official announcement was made a few days later, Briscoe playfully teased Bell, saying, “I think it’s the worst kept secret in the sport for a while now. Christopher just couldn’t keep it under wraps anymore. But I’m really excited to join an organization that aligns with my values; their culture is different from anywhere I’ve been.”
Looking ahead, the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series lineup for 23XI Racing will feature Briscoe, Bell, Ty Gibbs, and Denny Hamlin, who co-owns the team with NBA legend Michael Jordan. These four drivers will compete for the championship starting in February with the beginning of the season.
