App State women’s basketball coach Alaura Sharp announced the signing of three Mountaineers on National Signing Day. Addie Biel, Isa Roman, and Riley Stoker will join the Mountaineers for the 2025-26 season as true freshmen.
“This recruiting class was really important for us in finding pieces that will be difference-makers,” said Sharp. “We made sure that we found players who are committed to excellence both on and off the court. All three of these women are intelligent, hard working and will take pride in the Black and Gold. They will help us continue to build this program to a high level. We cannot wait for our fans to meet them.”
Addie Biel | 6-2 | C | Erie, Penn. | Cathedral Preparatory HS
Erie, Penn. native Addie Biel will join the Mountaineers as a center. Biel was a first team all-state selection in her time at Cathedral Preparatory and was named to the honor roll all four years. She also competed on the Erie Irish club team under the direction of Doug Chuzie and the Slaam club team under the direction of Brian Broseski.
Biel enjoys listening to music and hanging out with family.
Why Biel Chose App State: “I chose App State for the welcoming community and coaching staff.”
Sharp on Biel: “Addie will add much needed size and length to our roster for next season. She is committed to being a post player who can score both in the paint and on the perimeter. Addie has really soft hands and great touch around the rim. She has played in a really competitive high school program and knows how to win. She is a high character person and we are really excited about what Addie will bring to our program both on and off the court. ”
Isa Roman | 5-10 | G | Cary, N.C. | Grace Christian HS
Hailing from Cary, N.C., Isa Roman will join the Mountaineers as guard next season. Roman helped her team win a state championship and was a first team all-state and all-conference selection. She has scored over 1,000 points in her high school career and also made it to the Chipotle Nationals, which were televised on ESPN. In addition to her high school career, Roman competed on the Carolina All Stars club team under the direction of Ty Cox as well as the Lady Strong club team under the direction of Danny Strong. She helped her club team to the semifinal round at nationals.
Roman intends to study business management and physical science while at App State. She also has a brother, who is an NCAA Division I lacrosse athlete. She enjoys running, swimming, shopping, and working out.
Why Roman Chose App State: “I chose App State because of the amazing coaching staff and team as well as an amazing community and campus.”
Sharp on Roman: “Isa is a player that we have recruited for a really long time. She has a high basketball IQ and makes a lot of great decisions with the ball in her hands. Her impact will stretch beyond basketball skill, she plays with joy and is a great leader on the court. She will be a great motion player and her work ethic is unmatched. She takes a lot of pride in her player development and we know that will continue when she gets to App State.”
Riley Stoker | 6-0 | G | Davie, Fla. | Somerset Prep North Lauderdale HS
Joining the Mountaineers’ signing class as a guard is Davie, Fla. native Riley Stoker. Stoker is a two-time Miami Herald first team all-county selection as well as a Sun Sentinel first team all-county selection. She also competed on the Team Knight and GT Queens club teams under the direction of George Adams.
Stoker intends on majoring in chemistry and enjoys working and traveling.
Why Stoker Chose App State: “The city and people were welcoming. It felt like home away from home.”
Sharp on Stoker: “Riley is a player I knew immediately would be a great fit for us. She is long, athletic and very skilled. She can score in many different ways, she has great range from the perimeter and is also creative in getting to the rim. She takes pride in rebounding and being good on the defensive end. What we love about her is we can play her at multiple positions on the court and she will find a way to be successful. Riley is a loyal teammate and we are so glad she chose to be a Mountaineer. “
