Dave Sims, the longtime Seattle Mariners announcer, has been appointed as the new radio voice of the New York Yankees. A two-time Emmy Award winner, Sims has called Mariners games for the past 18 years and will now replace John Sterling, who retired following a storied career. Sims is no stranger to  New York, having served as the radio host for the New York Knicks in the mid-’80s.

“By now, you’ve likely heard the news—I’m coming back to New York,” Sims shared. “I had an amazing time during my 18 years in Seattle. I truly enjoyed becoming a part of Mariner Nation in the Pacific Northwest. So many wonderful memories and incredible people. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for welcoming me into your community. It’s been a great experience, and I wish everyone in Seattle and the Pacific Northwest all the best as we move forward. Go Mariners and Go Yankees.”
