Former South Carolina Gamecock offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield demoted at Nebraska.
The Nebraska Cornhuskers have experienced a rollercoaster of a season, leading head coach Matt Rhule to announce a coaching change. Marcus Satterfield, the former offensive coordinator from South Carolina, has been demoted, and long-time college coach Dana Holgorsen will now take over the play-calling responsibilities.
Satterfield served as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at South Carolina for the 2021 and 2022 seasons. He has been the offensive coordinator at Nebraska, but as of this week, he is now just the tight ends coach.
This season, Nebraska is struggling, ranking 99th in points per game with an average of just 23.6, and 96th in total offense, averaging 354.1 yards per game. Holgorsen brings extensive experience, having been head coach at West Virginia throughout the 2010s, leading Houston from 2019 to 2023, and recently serving as a scout and advisor at TCU.
During Satterfield’s tenure at South Carolina, the Gamecocks averaged 22.6 points per game in 2021 and improved to 32.2 points per game in 2022. However, he resigned from his position during the 2022 season before their bowl game against Notre Dame.
