As anticipated, two starting offensive linemen have been activated from injured reserve, allowing them to play for the Rams tonight. One player suffered an MCL sprain in Week 1, which immediately placed him on IR. The other managed to debut with the team that week but sustained a shoulder injury in the subsequent game, leading to a significant absence. Bringing both players back is a significant and welcomed development as the Rams aim to establish a consistent offensive line.
During his rookie season, one of the players primarily played left guard, and there were indications he might transition to center this season. However, that position has been handed to the other player, allowing the first player to maintain his guard role alongside another teammate. The latter was signed to a three-year deal that includes $ 25.5 million in guarantees, making his health crucial for the team’s offensive line.
The tackle position has also experienced frequent changes this year. One tackle was suspended for the first two games, while another has only played in one game thus far. The latter was activated last week, enabling him to dress for tonight’s game. However, the starting right tackle is not expected to participate in Week 10, meaning the Rams still won’t have their ideal offensive line against the Dolphins. Nonetheless, the overall health of the unit is significantly improved compared to earlier in the season.
In a related move, a third-round pick from 2022 has been waived. He has not appeared in any games during his first two seasons with the Rams, and even with the numerous injuries this year, he has only made three starts in eight appearances. He will be available to other teams on the waiver wire, and if he clears, he could potentially rejoin the Rams on the practice squad. Los Angeles now has one remaining IR activation for the year.
As expected, Steve Avila and Jonah Jackson have been activated from injured reserve
