In the first five games of the Pittsburgh Steelers’ 2024 NFL season, their primary running back managed 270 yards on 82 carries without a single touchdown, leading the team to a 3-2 record. However, over the last three games, he has surged with 322 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 54 carries, helping Pittsburgh remain undefeated during that stretch.
In Monday night’s 26-18 victory over the New York Giants, the player extended his streak of 100-yard games to three, with 114 rushing yards on 19 attempts and an additional 17 yards from three receptions. Now in his fourth NFL season, this marked his ninth 100-yard rushing game, placing him among elite former Alabama players with three-game 100-yard streaks, alongside names like Shaun Alexander, Derrick Henry, Bobby Humphrey, Mark Ingram, and Josh Jacobs. These players combined for a total of 12 such streaks in their careers.
Wide receiver Calvin Austin added to the Steelers’ success with a 73-yard punt return touchdown in the third quarter and a 29-yard touchdown reception from quarterback Russell Wilson in the fourth, putting Pittsburgh up by 14 points.
For the Giants, former Auburn receiver Darius Slayton had an impressive performance with four receptions for 108 yards, marking his seventh 100-yard receiving game in the NFL. Slayton has achieved 100-yard games in both matchups against Pittsburgh, also recording six receptions for 102 yards and two touchdowns during a 2020 game.
