The Cleveland Browns provided some positive news following linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah’s neck injury during the team’s Week 8 victory over the Baltimore Ravens.
After leaving the field on a backboard while attempting to tackle Derrick Henry, head coach Kevin Stefanski announced on Monday that Owusu-Koramoah has been discharged from the hospital and is able to walk on his own. “I’m really glad to hear he’s doing better,” Stefanski stated. “Jeremiah has been playing at an exceptionally high level. Even in that game, he was making plays and running around. It’s difficult to see a teammate go through something like that; it’s scary and tough for everyone involved.” Owusu-Koramoah was injured at the end of the third quarter and was subsequently taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
Although there hasn’t been an official update on the specifics of his injury or the expected recovery time, both the franchise and Browns fans are hoping for his speedy recovery. The fourth-year linebacker has spent his entire career with the Browns since being drafted in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft from Notre Dame.
The former Notre Dame player, who will turn 25 on November 4, is a one-time Pro Bowler and has played in 49 games for the Cleveland Browns, starting in 41 of them. In the 2024 season, Owusu-Koramoah has recorded 61 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 3.0 sacks, one forced fumble, and one interception. His impressive 101-tackle performance in 2023 contributed to his Pro Bowl selection and helped establish the Browns’ defense as one of the top units in the NFL.
However, this season, the defense has faced challenges, particularly with the offense struggling under quarterback Deshaun Watson. After the Browns’ Week 8 win over the Ravens, there are signs of improvement. Currently, the Browns’ defense ranks 19th in points allowed, with 186 total points and 2,612 yards given up.J
