“Trust in us, trust in Coach Hugh Freeze”: 4-star QB commit Deuce Knight stands by Auburn amid recent struggles
Auburn has hit a rough patch, going winless in the Southeastern Conference play, standing at 0-4. However, four-star Auburn quarterback commit Deuce Knight believes in his coach, Hugh Freeze.
“Just be patient – trust in us, trust in Coach Freeze,” Knight told 247 Sports on Sunday. “He’s got the plan, that’s the man with the plan. Be patient and we’re going to turn everything around.”

Auburn’s losing streak has now reached four games, resulting in an overall record of 2-5. However, Freeze has successfully avoided losing seasons for over three decades, demonstrating his ability to turn things around. There’s hope that Auburn’s upcoming road game against Kentucky will break this streak.
Despite disappointing on-field results, Auburn’s recruiting efforts are thriving. The 2025 class received a significant boost when Deuce Knight switched his commitment from Notre Dame to Auburn earlier this month. After four game-day visits and an official visit, the Tigers secured Knight’s commitment. This has propelled Auburn’s 2025 class from No. 8 to No. 5, with 27 committed players. Besides Knight, the class features several blue-chip prospects such as Derick Smith, Jared Smith, and Anquon Fegans.
In a recent performance, Deuce Knight excelled in George County’s victory over Hancock. Last season was a roller coaster for Knight, who transferred to Lipscomb Academy before returning to George County High School in Mississippi mid-season. This season, he is thriving; last Friday night, he led George County to a 51-41 win over Hancock by completing 10 of 16 passes for 329 yards and three touchdowns. This victory extended Hancock’s losing streak to four games against the Rebels.
With this win, George County improved to a 5-3 record, having won three of its last four games. Knight continues to show potential as a five-star prospect, currently ranked No. 52 nationally, No. 2 in Mississippi, and No. 6 among quarterbacks in the 2025 class according to 247 Sports.
