Reports are swirling that one Ohio State football player is seriously injured, and there are whispers that another could be out for weeks following the recent Oregon game.
Coming out of that game, which the Buckeyes lost 32-31, the team is in rough shape, having suffered several injuries. The biggest blow came when a key offensive lineman was carted off the field, marking a significant loss for the season.
During the bye week, it was revealed that a player had undergone surgery on his hand. This added to the growing list of injuries plaguing the Buckeyes. While he is expected to return this week, unsettling rumors hint that another player may not be as fortunate.
One player, in particular, has faced a history of injuries. His first major setback occurred during the Rose Bowl against Utah, when he sustained a serious leg injury on a kickoff. Since then, he has yet to complete a full season, missing four games last year. If the rumors prove accurate, he may be set to miss more games this year.
Currently, there are circulating rumors about the potential absence of this player for an extended period. While the specifics of the injury are not fully disclosed, Coach Day noted during his radio show that the Buckeyes “will get a couple of guys back.” However, it seems this player might not be among them.
If he is unable to play, it remains unclear who will fill the safety position. Lorenzo Styles appears to be the likely candidate, although many believe Malik Hartford should take the spot, especially given his strong performances during limited opportunities in recent years.
Losing this player for multiple weeks would be a significant setback, particularly with the upcoming Penn State game on the horizon. The defense struggled against Oregon, and losing a starter in the secondary will only complicate their efforts to address those issues.
The player in question is Lathan Ransom
