A change at quarterback did little to change the fortunes of the Golden Eagles’ offense.
Coach Will Hall gave sophomore Ethan Crawford the start at quarterback in place of Tate Rodemaker. A 47-yard pass play late in the second quarter to receiver Dannis Jackson was the lone highlight of a 165-yard passing day for Crawford, who completed just 9 of 26 passes and had one interception. Penalties didn’t help the team, as the Golden Eagles committed 10 penalties for 65 yards.
Southern Miss had success in the ground game, as four ball carriers gained 182 yards on 38 attempts for an average of 4.8 yards per carry.
Hall praised the performance of the defense in last week’s 23-13 loss to Louisiana, but big plays doomed the unit on Saturday. Warhawks quarterback Aidan Armenta and freshman running back Ahmad Hardy formed a dynamic duo in the backfield in ULM’s 432 total yards, 246 of them coming via the rush.
