A Red Sox legend is set to receive a significant honor prior to Game 1 of the Mets-Dodgers series.

Manny Ramirez is returning to familiar territory.

On Sunday evening, Dodger Stadium is set to feature an impressive lineup of former Boston Red Sox players. Both the New York Mets and the Los Angeles Dodgers have included three ex-Red Sox members in their respective rosters for the National League Championship Series.

The Mets’ roster boasts players like Jose Iglesias, J.D. Martinez, and Adam Ottavino, while the Dodgers have Ryan Brasier, Kiké Hernández, and the star outfielder Mookie Betts. Furthermore, the Dodgers, who are the top seed in the National League, are managed by Dave Roberts, who is celebrated for his postseason heroics during his time in Boston.

Before the much-anticipated best-of-seven series between the Mets and Dodgers commences, an iconic figure from the Red Sox’s history will be honored with a significant role at Chavez Ravine. Manny Ramirez, regarded as one of the greatest players in Red Sox history, will be on hand to throw out the ceremonial first pitch for Game 1 of the NLCS, according to a report by Abbey Mastracco from the New York Daily News.

Ramirez enjoyed a successful stint with the Dodgers, playing for the team for parts of three seasons after his legendary time in Boston. During his time in Los Angeles, he played a crucial role in helping the Dodgers advance to the NLCS in both 2008 and 2009. He holds the record for the most home runs in postseason history, with an impressive total of 29, and notably, the last five playoff homers of his career were hit while he was with the Dodgers.

In an interesting twist, there’s a possibility that Los Angeles could face another one of Ramirez’s former teams if they make it to the World Series. The Cleveland Guardians, where Ramirez began his Major League career and played for eight years, are currently in a battle against the New York Yankees for the American League pennant. This potential matchup adds an extra layer of intrigue to the postseason narrative surrounding Ramirez and his past affiliations.
