Update: Spurs New Signing

The Spurs have announced the release of Nathan Mensah. With this move, San Antonio now has 20 players signed, just one short of the offseason cap.

Nathan Mensah, a free agent big man, has been added to the Spurs’ training camp roster, according to Tom Orsborn of The San Antonio Express-News. This agreement was initially reported back in July. The 26-year-old center played 25 games for the Hornets last season under a two-way contract before being waived in early March. He averaged 1.3 points and 2.6 rebounds in about 12.3 minutes per game. After going undrafted from San Diego State, Mensah signed an Exhibit 10 deal with Charlotte last summer and participated in their training camp but was waived before the season started. Earlier this month, the Austin Spurs acquired Mensah’s rights through a four-team G League trade. San Antonio has a two-way spot available, and if Mensah joins Austin this season with another Exhibit 10 deal, he could earn a bonus of up to $77.5K if he stays with the team for a minimum of 60 days. The Spurs recently made space on their 21-man roster by waiving Jameer Nelson Jr., allowing them to return to the offseason limit with Mensah’s signing.
