Talented 20-Year-Old Pirates Prospect Makes a Triumphant Return to AFL After Injury

Pittsburgh Pirates prospect Termarr Johnson is back in the lineup after missing one game.

Following his absence, Johnson rejoined the Scottsdale Scorpions in the Arizona Fall League. He left the first game due to a severe cramp during his eighth-inning at-bat but didn’t participate in their following match, a 19-3 loss to the Mesa Solar Sox.

Ranked as the No. 3 prospect by MLB Pipeline, Johnson is leading off and starting at shortstop for Scottsdale (1-1) against the Surprise Saguaros (0-2) at 4:30 p.m. ET.

He had a strong start in the AFL, going 2-4 with a home run and an RBI single. The 2022 No. 4 overall pick launched a 393-foot home run after falling behind in the count.

In the second inning, with Jackson Siani on second, Johnson hit the ball to left field, allowing Siani to score and giving Scottsdale a 2-0 lead.

Siani, who had a great game with two runs scored against the Rafters, is also back in the lineup, batting fifth and playing center field.

At 20, Johnson is ranked No. 75 by MLB Pipeline and had a season batting average of .237 with 15 home runs, 54 RBIs, and 22 stolen bases across High-A Greensboro and Double-A Altoona. Siani, aged 23, also played for Greensboro and Altoona, hitting nine home runs, driving in 48 runs, and stealing 16 bases.
