Breaking: A Big Time for Miami at Louisville

Miami will play at a more reasonable hour with a noon kickoff on ABC for their October 19 game against Louisville. Louisville’s recent loss to SMU likely eliminated the possibility of a more high-profile time slot. The game between Notre Dame and Georgia Tech will air on ABC at 3:30 PM, while SMU faces Stanford on The ACC Network at 8 PM ET. This marks Miami’s first noon kickoff for the 2024 season. Previously, they’ve had a 3:30 PM start against Florida on August 31 and Ball State on September 24.

They’ve also played four night games, including a late 10:30 PM kickoff at California last Saturday. Miami holds an 11-4-1 advantage in their all-time series against Louisville. The Cardinals defeated Miami 38-31 in 2023, while Miami won 47-34 in their last meeting in 2020. The Hurricanes have a 5-2 record when playing in Louisville. Miami’s 2020 win ended a two-game losing streak against the Cardinals. In 2024, Louisville lost 31-24 to Notre Dame in their only matchup with a ranked team. This Saturday, Louisville will host Virginia. The Cardinals were previously ranked 22nd but fell out of the rankings after their loss to SMU. Other ranked ACC teams this week include Clemson, Pittsburgh, and SMU, but Miami does not face any of them during the regular season. Miami has a bye this week.

All the ACC games for week eight have confirmed kick-off times, with no matches placed on a six-day hold that gives networks the option to adjust for key games. Keep an eye on Miami’s upcoming matches against Duke on November 2 and their regular season finale at Syracuse on November 30, as they could potentially be scheduled for prime time.

None of the teams left on Miami’s 2024 schedule are currently ranked. Syracuse garnered votes in the week seven polls from both the Associated Press and the AFCA Coaches poll. Duke and Manny Diaz, despite having a 5-1 record, did not receive any votes in the week eight polls after their loss to Georgia Tech.
