Just in: More Sad News About Parsons Injury

Dallas played late into the night against Pittsburgh, and their efforts paid off when Dak Prescott connected with Jalen Tolbert for a game-winning touchdown in the final minute, securing a hometown victory for Mike McCarthy against the Steelers. This impressive win came without star defensive player Micah Parsons, who missed the game due to injury. Now, the focus for the Cowboys has shifted to the Detroit Lions, with Parsons’ availability still uncertain.

McCarthy mentioned that Parsons still has “work to do” before returning to the field, as he is sidelined with an ankle injury sustained against the New York Giants. “He’s got some work to do,” McCarthy said on Monday, as reported by Jon Machota of The Athletic. “We knew this week would be a challenge.” McCarthy noted that it’s too early in the week to make a final call on Parsons’ participation, whether positive or negative for Dallas. More clarity is expected on Wednesday after the Cowboys complete a few days of practice.

Since being drafted, Parsons has been one of the NFL’s top players and has generally been available for games. Sunday marked just the second game he has missed in his career, with the first being a rest during his rookie season’s Week 17 finale before the playoffs. Sometimes, being available is the best ability. Unfortunately, Parsons may miss consecutive games for the first time in his career due to this ankle injury. The Lions would likely appreciate if Parsons remains sidelined, especially after his standout performance against them last season, where he recorded six tackles, two tackles for loss, and two quarterback hits in a memorable game at AT&T Stadium. Jared Goff and the Lions’ offensive line would surely welcome the relief if No. 11 isn’t facing them for the entire game.
