Ex-Colorado Five-Star In Attendance At Unlikely College Football Game

Cornerback CM  began his college career in 2023 with coach Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes. After playing in nine games during a challenging 4-8 season—where he recorded nine tackles and defended two passes—this former five-star recruit from Lakeland, Florida, decided to enter the transfer portal. Following his decision, McClain stirred some controversy with a comment that appeared to critique Sanders: “I feel like I just don’t want to play for clicks. I actually want to be involved with a great leading program that’s going to develop players,” he stated shortly after announcing his transfer.

Eventually, McClain returned to his home state by committing to the Florida Gators over the offseason. However, when Colorado played against the UCF Knights in Orlando, he chose to make the two-hour journey south to watch his old team. The Buffaloes, underdogs by 12.5 points, triumphed with a decisive 48-21 victory. McClain shared a photo of his former team celebrating at FBC Mortgage Stadium on his Instagram story.

Under Coach Prime, McClain was benched because of his lack of effort in practice, which could have contributed to his decision to leave. Just a month after joining Florida, rumors surfaced that he had been removed from the roster, but Gators coach Billy Napier quickly dismissed those claims. Nevertheless, McClain has not yet seen any game action this season.
