Adam Schefter’s Critical Update on Possible Davante Adams, Kansas City Chiefs Trade

The Buffalo Bills helped the Kansas City Chiefs secure the fastest wide receiver in NFL combine history, Xavier Worthy, during the recent draft. Now, speculation is swirling about whether the Las Vegas Raiders will trade Davante Adams to assist the Chiefs in their quest for a three-peat.

The Chiefs are actively looking for a new receiver after Rashee Rice collided with Patrick Mahomes during their Week 4 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers. With the champs already missing Hollywood Brown and Travis Kelce seemingly at the end of his career, acquiring another star receiver could be crucial.

Given that the Raiders are expected to struggle this season and sit near the bottom of the league, many believe they might consider moving the All-Pro receiver. However, ESPN’s Adam Schefter poured cold water on that notion during an appearance on the “Pat McAfee Show,” stating, “I don’t see the Raiders trading him… Surely not to the Chiefs.” He emphasized that the Raiders received multiple inquiries regarding Adams over the summer but didn’t entertain any discussions.

Adams is under contract with the Raiders through 2026, and the organization has consistently maintained its desire to keep him. Trading him to a division rival is unlikely, especially since the teams face each other twice a year. While things could change if the Raiders find themselves underperforming and Adams expresses dissatisfaction—especially with the instability at quarterback—the immediate future appears to have him catching poorly thrown passes in Las Vegas.
