During the offseason, Evgeny Kuznetsov departed the NHL to sign with a team in the KHL in his native Russia.
Kuznetsov has been playing for SKA St. Petersburg, where he is teammates with Montreal Canadiens prospect Ivan Demidov and the controversial defenseman, Tony DeAngelo. Unfortunately, Kuznetsov will be sidelined for the next two months due to a major injury that his team has not fully disclosed. Nevertheless, the club is committed to providing him with exceptional treatment.

‘After medical tests, we’ve discovered that Evgeny Kuznetsov’s injury is quite serious. Roughly two months are required for Kuzy to return to action. We have put together a detailed recovery plan, Evgeny will work with our doctors and physical conditioning coaches at every stage of the process. We won’t rush matters – SKA and the entire league need a healthy Kuzy, who will be able to show 100% of his capabilities. Evgeny is the best player in the KHL, he’s a leader of our team both on and off the ice. I have no doubt that fans of all KHL teams will be waiting for Evgeny to return. Of course, his absence is a big loss for us, but, as I said yesterday, all of our guys played for Kuzy, the victory against Severstal is for him and we will continue to win for him. I sincerely wish Evgeny health and a speedy recovery, we’re waiting for him to return to the ice!’
We wish Kuznetsov all the best during his recovery. Coming back from an injury is never easy, and we hope he receives the best care possible. We’re confident that his team is treating this situation with the utmost seriousness.
