Brad Marchand and Jeremy Swayman have been absent from the Boston Bruins’ training camp during the first few weeks. Swayman’s absence stems from a contract dispute, while Marchand has missed time due to injuries. However, Marchand made his return to the ice today.
This was a chance for Marchand to demonstrate his elite skills, although he acknowledged he needed to ease back into things following his recovery. He feels his conditioning is good, though he still needs to address some issues with his back.
Following his first practice, Marchand shared some insights with NHL reporter Eric Rosen. He stated, “It feels good to be out there without a non-contact jersey and take part in full practice. I hope to get into a few games before the end of camp to be ready for the season.” He added that while his back is a bit off, his conditioning is improving daily, and he doesn’t feel out of place. “It’s something I can still work on, but I’m pleased with my progress.”
Marchand also mentioned, “The fitness level feels fine; it’s more about adjusting to the pace and the pressure of the game.”
The season ahead looks intriguing for the Bruins, particularly with Swayman’s situation. However, with Marchand’s leadership, they might surprise some fans.
