BREAKING: ECU Pirates have reportedly lost another standout player for the rest of 2024

East Carolina has reportedly lost its top defensive back for the year due to a torn ACL. This injury, confirmed by a Friday morning report from ESPN’s Pete Thamel, occurred during practice leading up to the Pirates’ game against Liberty this Saturday.

In just three games this season, he recorded two interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown. With a record of 2-1, the team has already matched their total wins from the previous year.

The player is viewed as a leading prospect for the 2025 NFL Draft. If he is selected in the first round, he would be the first East Carolina player to achieve this milestone since running back Chris Johnson in 2008.

Thamel also referenced an NFL scout who compared him to former Toledo cornerback Quinyon Mitchell, who turned his successful Group of Five career into a first-round pick by the Philadelphia Eagles in April.
