Breaking news: New York Giants Projected to Add in Another Star Replacement

The 2024 NFL season is only a week old, but signs are already pointing to potential significant changes for the New York Giants in 2025.

The Giants suffered a humiliating defeat at home in their season opener, losing 28-6, with quarterback Daniel Jones throwing two interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown by Minnesota Vikings edge rusher Andrew Van-Ginkle.

If this season is meant to evaluate Daniel Jones’ future as the Giants’ quarterback, it started off in a disappointingly familiar way for the team.

Since signing a four-year, $160 million contract, the No. 6 pick from the 2019 NFL Draft has managed only two touchdown passes in seven games, while former Giants running back Saquon Barkley recorded three touchdowns in his debut for the Philadelphia Eagles against the Green Bay Packers.

The Giants may be looking for a replacement for Daniel Jones in 2025. If the team fails to turn things around quickly, there could be major changes this offseason, potentially including the departure of general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll.

Most likely, whoever is in charge of the Giants’ personnel decisions next spring will prioritize finding a successor for Jones in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft.

This scenario is reflected in CBS Sports’ latest mock draft, which predicts the Giants will select USC quarterback Miller Moss with the No. 3 overall pick.

“Moss lands with another franchise likely (see: moving toward clearly) in need of a quarterback upgrade,” notes Chris Trapasso for CBS. “He possesses the pocket skills necessary to succeed in the NFL.”

In his first two weeks as the starting quarterback for the Trojans, stepping into the spotlight after 2024’s No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williams, Moss has completed 72.7% of his passes for 607 yards and two touchdowns.

If the Giants decide to move on from Jones, Moss could be the next quarterback tasked with maximizing the potential of Malik Nabers and the team’s receiving corps next season.
