In her brief time in the WNBA, Angel Reese has faced numerous instances of stalking.

During her short stint in the league, Reese has encountered considerable challenges from fans.

The LSU women’s basketball team captured the spotlight in 2023 when Kim Mulkey’s Lady Tigers secured the National Championship against Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes. However, Clark and her team got their revenge last March, eliminating Reese’s Tigers in the NCAA Tournament’s Elite Eight. Unfortunately for Clark, Iowa fell short again in the national title game, this time to Reese’s Chicago Sky teammate, Kamilla Cardoso, and the South Carolina Gamecocks.

Earlier this summer, Clark was chosen first overall by the Indiana Fever in the WNBA Draft, while Angel Reese was selected seventh by the Chicago Sky. Clark has undeniably elevated the women’s game, consistently breaking rookie records, while Reese recently set the WNBA’s single-season rebounding record—an achievement not limited to rookies.

Reese is growing her already significant brand with the launch of her “Unapologetically Angel” podcast, where she discussed various topics, particularly her troubling experiences with fan stalking, death threats, and even individuals showing up at her home. She emphasized that she holds no ill will towards Caitlin Clark and believes she doesn’t endorse the behavior of these fans, suggesting that the issues stem primarily from dedicated followers of Clark.

“I think it’s really just the fans. Her fans, the Iowa fans, now the Indiana fans—they support her, and I respect that. But sometimes it crosses a line. I believe there’s a lot of racism involved, but when it comes to death threats, people have followed me home and shown up at my address. I’ve even had people create explicit AI images of me.”

While Reese is excelling on the court and would likely be a frontrunner for Rookie of the Year if not for Clark’s record-breaking season, the Chicago Sky has struggled recently, holding an 11-22 record and clinging to the eighth and final playoff spot as the WNBA season nears its end.
