BREAKING: Talented Star Says He’s Waiting on Cowboys’ Phone Call amid Contract

CeeDee Lamb Awaits Cowboys’ Call for Contract Extension.

CeeDee Lamb, the star wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys, is currently holding out of training camp as he waits for the team to reach out to him regarding a long-term contract extension before the start of the 2024 NFL season. In an Instagram video posted on Friday, Lamb expressed his eagerness to secure a new deal, stating, “Still waiting on that phone call, but until then we grind.

The Cowboys remain optimistic about reaching an agreement with Lamb, who is entering the final year of his rookie contract on a $17.9 million fifth-year option[2][5]. Owner Jerry Jones has expressed confidence in the negotiations, saying, “I’m optimistic we’ll find common ground. We wouldn’t be here if we didn’t want CeeDee to stay with us for the long haul.

Jones also acknowledged the sensitivity of the situation, emphasizing Lamb’s importance to the team. “CeeDee is a key part of our team, and we miss him out here,” Jones said, adding, “We’re having good talks, and I’m confident we’ll get there.

The Cowboys have reportedly offered Lamb a contract worth slightly under $33 million per season, which would make him the second-highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL behind Justin Jefferson of the Minnesota Vikings. However, the specifics of the negotiations remain undisclosed, and both sides are working towards a mutually beneficial agreement before the start of the regular season on September.

“Control what I can control, and that’s to be the best version of me,” he stated.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, as of Tuesday, Lamb and the Cowboys are “not too far apart” in their contract negotiations.

Lamb has been absent from training camp, and the Cowboys may be eager to finalize a deal to ensure he is available for their Week 1 game against the Cleveland Browns on September 8.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones expressed optimism about the negotiations, stating that they are in “good shape” and that discussions are “promising,” as reported by ESPN’s Todd Archer.

“I believe we’ll come together,” Jones noted. “I don’t want to speak for him, but we wouldn’t have made the offer we did if we didn’t want him here.”

Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News reported on August 16 that the Cowboys proposed a contract “slightly below $33 million per season,” which would rank Lamb as the second-highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL, following Minnesota Vikings star Justin Jefferson.

After setting franchise records with 135 receptions and 1,749 receiving yards in 2023, Lamb is currently set to earn just under $18 million before becoming a free agent in 2025.

CeeDee Lamb and Cowboys Optimistic About Reaching Contract Extension Before Season Opener.

As the Dallas Cowboys prepare for their regular season opener against the Cleveland Browns on September 8, the urgency to finalize a contract extension with star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb is increasing. Both Lamb and the Cowboys remain optimistic about reaching an agreement before the start of the season, despite the ongoing negotiations.

Owner Jerry Jones expressed confidence in the talks, stating, “I’m optimistic we’ll find common ground. We wouldn’t be here if we didn’t want CeeDee to stay with us for the long haul.”[1] Jones acknowledged the sensitivity of the situation, emphasizing Lamb’s importance to the team.

However, the specifics of the negotiations remain undisclosed, and both sides are working towards a mutually beneficial agreement.

Lamb, who is currently on a $17.9 million fifth-year option, is seeking a long-term deal as he enters the final year of his rookie contract. His absence from training camp has been noticeable, but Jones remains confident that a resolution is on the horizon. “The facts are that I believe we’ll come together,” Jones said. “I don’t want to speak for him. That’s what I’m trying not to do. But we wouldn’t have offered him what we’ve offered him if we didn’t want him to be here.

As the Cowboys gear up for their final preseason game and prepare for their regular season opener, the pressure to finalize the contract is mounting. Despite this, Jones remains focused on ensuring the deal is mutually beneficial. “It’s a process, and both sides need to feel comfortable with the outcome. We’ve got the right level of focus and importance on this, and I believe we’ll reach a resolution soon.
