On Saturday, the Las Vegas Raiders are set to play the Dallas Cowboys in their second preseason game. Before this exhibition, the Raiders are making changes to their quarterback lineup after bringing in Nathan Peterman earlier this week.
Football insider Tisten Kuhn reported that the Raiders will release quarterback Anthony Brown on Friday. As a result, the team will have four quarterbacks available for Saturday’s preseason clash.
Las Vegas Raiders: Release QB Anthony Brown
On Friday, the Las Vegas Raiders let go of veteran quarterback Anthony Brown ahead of the 2024 season. Brown was signed to a reserve/future contract earlier this year, but he will be released after participating in just one preseason game.

Brown appeared in the preseason opener against the Minnesota Vikings, completing 1 of 3 passes for 24 yards. He also had five rushing attempts, gaining 13 yards. At 26, he did not participate in the NFL during 2023 but was part of the Baltimore Ravens in his rookie year of 2022, where he made one start and completed 22 of 49 passes for 302 yards and two interceptions. He played college football at Boston College and Oregon, finishing with 61 touchdown passes and 27 interceptions.
Raiders Sign Nathan Peterman on Tuesday
Prior to cutting Anthony Brown, the Las Vegas Raiders added quarterback Nathan Peterman to their roster after he was released by the New Orleans Saints. Peterman, who previously played for the Raiders from 2018 to 2021, completed five passes for 25 yards during that time. He is set to begin his eighth NFL season, holding a quarterback rating of 39.4.
Peterman has also been a member of the Chicago Bears and Buffalo Bills. In his rookie year of 2017, he infamously set the NFL record for the most interceptions thrown in a first start, with five. His team’s record as his starting quarterback is 1-5.
