5 highly regarded QB star committed to Texas A&M for the 2025

The USC Trojans are actively pursuing Husan Longstreet, a quarterback committed to the Texas A&M Aggies.

The USC Trojans are making significant efforts to recruit Husan Longstreet, a quarterback who is currently committed to the Texas A&M Aggies.

Steve Wiltfong noted that “Julian Lewis has been committed to USC for a long time.” He believes that Lincoln Riley and his team are trying to finalize Lewis’s commitment to the Trojans, which would lead them to stop pursuing Husan Longstreet.

However, for now, it seems that the Aggies shouldn’t be overly worried. Wiltfong mentioned that flipping Longstreet will be challenging, as he remains very committed to Texas A&M.

“I spoke with Husan Longstreet’s family last week, and they had some positive discussions with USC,” Wiltfong said. “They understand why USC is an appealing option for quarterbacks since it’s nearby. Nevertheless, I still feel good about Texas A&M’s position with Longstreet. They are communicating effectively, and his father indicated that flipping him will be difficult.”

Currently, 247Sports ranks Longstreet as the top player among major recruiting services, placing him at No. 28 nationally, No. 1 in California, and No. 4 among quarterbacks, recently awarding him five-star status.

Consequently, according to the On3 Industry ranking, Longstreet is now No. 26 overall, No. 5 among quarterbacks, and No. 2 in California, based on a composite of the four major recruiting services.

Last season, while playing for Centennial in Corona, CA, Longstreet completed 199 of 298 passes for 3,013 yards, throwing 24 touchdowns against six interceptions, and rushed 85 times for 645 yards and seven touchdowns, earning a MaxPreps California All-State selection.

If the Aggies manage to retain him, which seems likely at this point, he would become the highest-rated quarterback to sign with the program, following only Conner Weigman in 2022 and Kyler Murray in 2015.

ESPN analyst Jordan Rogers has praised Texas A&M quarterback Conner Weigman, calling him “completely overlooked.” Rogers believes Weigman ranks among the top quarterbacks in college football and highlighted his impressive performance against Miami last season, noting that he made numerous significant throws during that game.

Despite limited playing time, Weigman has shown his potential in nine games, completing 155 of 251 passes for 1,875 yards, 16 touchdowns, and only two interceptions. With the arrival of new offensive coordinator Collin Klein, Rogers anticipates that Weigman will further improve, as Klein is expected to tailor the offense to better support him. Weigman will have the opportunity to showcase his skills in the season opener against Notre Dame on August 31.

The Texas A&M Aggies are just two weeks away from their season opener against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish at Kyle Field, which is considered one of the most significant matchups in Week 1.

Fortunately for the Aggies, they will have a fully healthy Conner Weigman at quarterback to lead the team.

Weigman has garnered extensive praise this preseason and has been featured on multiple award watch lists.

ESPN college football analyst Jordan Rogers has been particularly complimentary, ranking Weigman among the top quarterbacks in college football.

“I believe Conner Weigman is among the top quarterbacks in the nation and is often overlooked,” Rodgers stated. “If you watch the Miami game from last year, you won’t find any quarterback with as many significant throws in a single game as Conner had.”

During his two seasons at Texas A&M, Weigman has participated in nine games, starting eight of them, with a record of 5-3 as a starter and 5-4 overall. He has demonstrated his talent by completing 155 of 251 passes (61.8 percent) for 1,875 yards, 16 touchdowns, and just two interceptions.

This includes his performance against Miami, where he completed 31 of 53 passes for 336 yards and two touchdowns.

He was particularly impressive, averaging over 300 yards and 2.6 touchdowns per game in his first three starts before suffering a season-ending injury in Week 4 against Auburn last year.

Rodgers believes Weigman has the potential to improve even further with the addition of new offensive coordinator Collin Klein.

“Bringing in Collin Klein to design the offense around Weigman is a big step. I’ve been advocating for changes in Jimbo’s offense for years to better support the quarterback,” Rogers remarked. “Last year, I noticed some improvements, and it highlighted Weigman’s potential.”

Weigman will have the opportunity to showcase his abilities in the season opener against Notre Dame on August 31.
