Stampeders fans woke up on Sunday to disappointing news following a tough loss, as wide receiver Malik Henry announced on social media that he has ruptured his Achilles tendon.
In his heartfelt message, Henry addressed his supporters, saying, “To everyone that DM’d me or reached out concerning last night, just wanted to give y’all an update. I ruptured my Achilles last night at the game. It’s gonna be a long process, but I know God wouldn’t put me through anything I couldn’t handle. Thank you for all the prayers.”
The injury occurred during a non-contact play against the Saskatchewan Roughriders, and Henry was helped off the field before being carted away, as reported by TSN.ca. Unfortunately, there is currently no timeline for his return.
Henry’s injury adds to the Stampeders’ growing list of offensive setbacks. The team is already missing key players, including wide receiver Reggie Begelton, running back Ka’Deem Carey, and receivers Jalen Philpot and Tyson Middlemost. Salim Valji highlighted the severity of the situation, noting that the Stampeders are down their top two receivers and their number one running back.
While the team has yet to officially comment on Henry’s injury, they did retweet his announcement, expressing their wishes for a speedy recovery. As the Stampeders navigate this challenging period, fans are left hoping for a quick turnaround for their star receiver.
