The Cincinnati Bengals have placed defensive end Cameron Sample on injured reserve and made several other roster moves on Wednesday by signing two defensive linemen.
Sample, 24, will miss the entire 2024 season due to a torn Achilles sustained during Monday’s practice during 11-on-11 drills. Being placed on IR during training camp means he cannot return for the regular season. To strengthen their defensive line in his absence, the Bengals have signed undrafted rookie DE Andre Carter and DT Joshua Pryor. In related decisions, they waived punter Austin McNamara and wide receiver Tre Mosley.
Last season, Sample started two of the 17 games he played, recording 29 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and eight quarterback hits. Over three seasons with the Bengals, he has made 68 tackles, five sacks, and 20 quarterback hits in 47 games (with three starts). Pryor appeared in seven games for the Washington Commanders last season, while Carter accumulated 15 sacks over six seasons at Western Michigan and Indiana.
