Highly conflicting as Yankees call off Tuesday’s game against Angels | details below

The Yankees postponed their scheduled 7:05 PM game against the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday afternoon due to bad weather, rescheduling it for a doubleheader on Wednesday. The teams will compete at 4 PM and again 30 minutes after the first game concludes.

The Yankees will benefit from two consecutive days off, allowing them to rest and rehabilitate some minor injuries affecting individual players. Instead of playing a regular game on Tuesday, they utilized the day to give some of their rehabbing pitchers a chance to work.

The Yankees will feature Luis Gil and Will Warren on Wednesday. Luis Gil will take the mound at 4 PM. The 26-year-old has a 3.20 ERA this season over 112.2 innings, averaging 10.54 strikeouts per nine innings, with a 76.9% left-on-base rate and a 38.1% ground ball rate. Gil possesses impressive talent and is currently working on improving his walk rate and fastball command, making him one of the standout rookies in baseball.

In Game 2, Will Warren will be the starter. The 25-year-old made his MLB debut last week against the Philadelphia Phillies, pitching over five innings despite allowing a three-run homer to Austin Hays. Warren struck out six batters and was mostly efficient, and he will aim to take advantage of a weaker Angels lineup.

The Yankees have a chance to widen their lead in the American League East this August, with a much more favorable schedule compared to recent months. Currently, they are tied for first place with the Baltimore Orioles, both holding a .593 winning percentage. The Orioles will be playing against Toronto on Tuesday night but face a challenging schedule later in August.
