Just In: New York Giants Quarterback legend hired as Yankees radio analyst

“Loved my 16 years with the Giants and I’m honored to come here and throw out the first pitch today.”

Former New York Giants quarterback has successfully transitioned from his NFL career to a broadcasting role, taking part in the Manningcast alternate stream of Monday Night Football. This past Sunday, Manning had the opportunity to call an MLB game after receiving an honor from the New York Yankees.

He threw the ceremonial first pitch while wearing a Giants jersey during the Yankees’ final game of the series against the Toronto Blue Jays. However, his nerves got the better of him as he delivered a pitch that was high and outside to Yankees third baseman Oswaldo Cabrera.

Once the game began, Manning made his way to the Yankees radio booth in the third inning to join Justin Shackil and Suzyn Waldman. He talked about various topics, including his anxious first pitch.

“I was excited, but I got a bit nervous once I was out there,” Manning admitted. “I asked if I could throw a few warm-up pitches, so I went into the bullpen in the dugout. They were all coming in a bit high during my warm-up. I didn’t want to overcorrect too much, and going low wasn’t an option for me. With everyone aiming for home runs, the high heat is supposed to be the pitch that’s tough to hit. I aimed for the high heat, but it ended up going a little higher than I intended.”

Manning also reflected on his time with the Giants, sharing that it was an “honor” to be part of an organization celebrating its 100th NFL season.

“It’s truly an honor to be involved with this organization,” Manning remarked. “For 100 years, the Giants had 18 seasons at the old Yankee Stadium. So many incredible Hall of Famers and outstanding players have played there. The Giants and Yankees share a rich history, and I enjoyed my 16 years with the Giants. I’m honored to be here today to throw out the first pitch; it’s a significant milestone for me.”

Although the conversation focused more on Manning than the game itself, it was still exciting to see him participate in this special moment at Yankee Stadium.
