The NC State football coaches came up short in their pursuit of a quarterback for 2026.
Head coach Dave Doeren and his team hosted Faizon Brandon, a quarterback from Grimsley High School in Georgia, earlier this summer. Brandon included NC State in his final four schools, alongside Tennessee, Alabama, and LSU—showing that the Wolfpack’s recruiting efforts are strong.
Standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 195 pounds, Brandon is a dynamic five-star talent ranked as the No. 1 overall prospect for 2026 by 247Sports. He had initially planned another visit to NC State before his decision on August 3, but his team canceled that trip in late July. Then, on Saturday afternoon, he excitedly announced his commitment to Tennessee by putting on a Vols cap, igniting celebrations at Rocky Top.

In the meantime, Doeren and his staff are still searching for their first major recruit in the 2026 cycle, regardless of position.
Currently, in their quest for a quarterback, five out of the ten quarterbacks offered by the Wolfpack have already committed to other schools.
