Dylan Raiola, a rookie quarterback for Nebraska, already has an advantage genetically. Raiola is said to be the godson of Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford. He is the son of longtime Detroit Lions center Dominic Raiola.
All of this is connected by the fact that Raiola, one of the best quarterbacks in recent memory, was a five-star recruit and 247Sports’ seventh-ranked player in the class of 2024. Stafford, on the other hand, was a longtime Lion.
At the beginning of 2023, Raiola had committed to Ohio State; however, he ultimately decided to reopen his recruitment process and explore elsewhere after recognizing the talent in the program and realizing he would likely have to sit out a year.
At that point, he unexpectedly decided on the Nebraska Cornhuskers, who are coached by Matt Rhule, the head coach, who was instrumental in the recruiting process.
When the Cornhuskers kick off against UTEP in Week 1 on August 31, Raiola is anticipated to start as quarterback.
