Georgia WR Rara Thomas Arrested on Family Violence Charges, According to Reports
Rara Thomas, a senior wide receiver for the Georgia Bulldogs, was arrested early Friday morning facing multiple charges, including two misdemeanor counts of battery and one felony charge of second-degree cruelty to children, as reported by Dawgs HQ.
As of now, Thomas is still in jail and waiting for a bond hearing after being booked by Athens-Clarke County Police around 3:20 a.m. ET.
This incident adds to the series of off-field legal troubles for the Georgia football program, which has seen many incidents related to driving offenses.
This isn’t Thomas’s first encounter with the law; after transferring from Mississippi State, he was arrested in 2023 on a misdemeanor charge of family violence and a felony charge of false imprisonment. Those charges were later dropped after he completed a pretrial diversion program, anger management classes, and community service.
Thomas was anticipated to take on a starting position in the Bulldogs’ offense this fall, having recorded 23 receptions for 383 yards and a touchdown in a secondary role last season.
