The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have cut American defensive back Dexter Lawson Jr. This season, the five-foot-ten, 190-pound player made four starts at field-side cornerback, accumulating 16 defensive tackles and one tackle on special teams.
He was recently moved to the practice roster after the Tiger-Cats secured their first win of the season against the Toronto Argonauts.
At 24 years old and originally from Bloomfield, Conn., Lawson played in nine games for Hamilton in 2023, starting six. He recorded 29 defensive tackles, one special teams tackle, and one interception as a rookie.
Additionally, the Tiger-Cats have released American defensive lineman Kelle Sanders, who participated in the season opener against Calgary before being placed on the practice roster.
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats (1-5) will face the Edmonton Elks (0-6) on Sunday, July 28, with kickoff set for 7:00 p.m. EDT.
