It’s never a good thing when Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison makes headlines over the offseason. To exacerbate the situation, Addison has gotten into another car accident, his second in his first two seasons with the Vikings.
This time, Addison was “caught asleep at the wheel” close to LAX, leading to her arrest on suspicion of drunk driving. The California Highway Patrol was called to the scene at 11:10 p.m. on Friday night due to a report of a car obstructing a lane of traffic from the freeway. This led to the arrest.
When police arrived, a white Rolls-Royce was obstructing the “number one lane of the freeway.” Addison was placed under arrest at 11:36 p.m. following the conclusion of the cops’ DUI investigation. At 1:36 a.m., he was later freed from custody after obtaining bond.
As previously mentioned, Addison has had two driving incidents after being chosen with the 23rd overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. The first occurred last July when Addison’s Lamborghini Urus was pulled over before he had even played in his first NFL game. He was given a ticket for reckless driving and exceeding the speed limit at that particular instance. Later on, Addison claimed that his dog’s “medical emergency” was the only reason he had taken action.
During minicamp practices, Addison had been receiving high praise for his excellent performance, but this presents a quite different image. Less than a week after his teammate Khyree Jackson died in a horrific vehicle accident on July 6, Addison is accused of driving under the influence.
The Vikings must be displeased with their 22-year-old receiver, of course. The Vikings have issued a statement on Jordan Addison’s arrest, but they’re still working to obtain the whole story.
The Vikings had high expectations for Addison going into 2024 after a fantastic rookie campaign in which he recorded 911 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns on 70 receptions. Addison was a standout player at USC. It is unclear if Minnesota’s No. 2 receiver will serve an in-season ban as a result of this most recent incident.
