BREAKING: Dodgers send major starter Bobby Miller to minors

The Los Angeles Dodgers sent right-hander  down to the minors on Wednesday, a day after he allowed nine runs in four innings against Philadelphia, bringing his ERA to 8.07.

Miller, 25, is in his second season in the majors and has started seven games this season, accumulating a record of 1-2 across 29 innings. Despite a strong start with a win and six shutout innings, he has struggled with a 10.17 ERA since.

According to The Athletic, Miller will work with the organization’s player development staff before joining Triple-A Oklahoma City after the All-Star break, as confirmed by manager Dave Roberts.

With seven starting pitchers already out due to injury, including Tyler Glasnow (back), Yoshinobu Yamamoto (strained rotator cuff), Walker Buehler (hip discomfort), and Clayton Kershaw (recovering from shoulder surgery), the Dodgers’ rotation is depleted. However, they maintain a 55-win record and a 7 1/2-game lead in the National League West.

In a corresponding decision, the Dodgers brought up right-hander Ricky Vanasco. The 25-year-old previously debuted in the major leagues with two scoreless relief innings against the Washington Nationals on April 15.

Vanasco has pitched in 23 relief appearances for Oklahoma City this season, recording a 0-2 record and a 3.63 ERA with 20 walks and 25 strikeouts across 22 1/3 innings.
