On Sunday afternoon, as training camp got underway, Team USA basketball received some unsettling news. Due to a little calf strain, Kevin Durant, the top scorers for the USA men in Olympic history, will miss the opening of training camp in Las Vegas. Both Joe Vardon and Shams Charania claim that the action was taken as a precaution.
While Durant has scored the most points (435) in the history of USA men’s basketball, he hasn’t participated in Team USA’s first two practices this weekend. Even if Durant’s injury isn’t thought to be serious, it’s still a precaution.
Durant’s availability for Team USA’s exhibition match against Canada on Wednesday is uncertain. It’s crucial to remember that Team USA still has three full weeks until their Olympic debut on July 28 in Lille, France, where they will play Serbia.
