Updates on Jared Smith of Thompson High School in Alabaster, the second-ranked prospect in the state according to 247Sports, and Herbert Scroggins of Benedictine Military School in Savannah, Ga.
Linebacker C.J. May from Highland Home, Ala. has narrowed down his college choices to four schools — Louisville, Syracuse, Washington, and Auburn. May, who stands at 6-4 and weighs 225 pounds, is a teammate of Auburn commit Jakaleb Faulk and is expected to play as an edge rusher or linebacker in college.
Although there may not be much activity in the coming month, one of the biggest recruiting events of the year will be on July 27, as numerous top prospects from around the country are set to attend Auburn’s Big Cat Weekend.
One prospect who is not currently expected to attend unless circumstances change is Michigan defensive tackle commitment Nathaniel Marshall, who is ranked as the 41st prospect in the country according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. Marshall visited Auburn officially on June 7 but has announced that he will be in Ann Arbor the same weekend as Auburn’s Big Cat Weekend.
One of the nation’s top receivers and a key target for Auburn, wide receiver Caleb Cunningham, recently had a successful visit to Tuscaloosa, which bodes well for the Crimson Tide. His official visit to Auburn on May 31 was also positive, as he declared Auburn his number one school. Cunningham also made official visits to Tennessee and Florida in June, and although Auburn made his top six, it seems that his decision might come down to a battle between Alabama and Mississippi State.
With the Signing Day for this 5-star prospect still far off, there is a sense of anticipation leading up to Auburn’s Big Cat Weekend. Ranked 13th in the country according to the Industry Composite, Auburn has the opportunity to pursue top prospects as they finalize their Class of 2025 roster.
