The University of Houston is entering a new phase in the leadership of its sports program as Chris Pezman steps down from his role as athletics director. The university is commencing a nationwide quest to find a new vice president for intercollegiate athletics.
“Chris Pezman has guided our sports program through a period of remarkable change, and we appreciate his guidance over the last six years,” stated UH President Renu Khator.
“He has played a crucial role in our move to the Big 12 Conference and has been a strong advocate for the achievement of student athletes both on and off the field. Although a tough decision, it is necessary as we adapt to a new era in collegiate athletics.
I want to extend my gratitude to Chris for his commitment to UH and our student athletes. On behalf of the university, I extend my best wishes to Chris and his family.”
The search for a new athletics director will commence immediately and will be of the utmost priority. During this transition period, Raymond S. Bartlett, Senior Vice President for Administration and Finance, will serve as the interim athletics director.
