David Pollack brutally responds To Georgia Tech Coach’s Comments About UGA Turns head

Georgia Tech head coach Brent Key recently made waves with his remarks about the longstanding 118-year-old rivalry with Georgia.

The ex-Yellow Jacket coach is adamant about keeping his distance from the Bulldogs, intensifying the animosity in the rivalry known as Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate.

“There’s nothing I hate more in the world — it’s probably the only thing I actually hate,” Key said. “When I say hate, like truly despise everything about it, I really do.”

The Georgia-Georgia Tech rivalry has lacked competitiveness since the mid-2010s. While UGA supporters won’t downplay their winning streak, it’s fair to say that the historic matchup has lost some of its appeal, which is unwelcome to both sets of fans.

Under Brent Key’s guidance for two seasons, Georgia Tech has shown marked improvement compared to the Geoff Collins era. During Collins’ tenure, UGA outscored Georgia Tech 97-7, but under Key’s leadership, though winless in two matches, the Yellow Jackets have narrowed the gap to 68-37.

In 2023, Georgia Tech put up a strong fight against Georgia in a 31-23 victory for the Bulldogs. The involvement of both rivalry alumni, including former Bulldog Kirby Smart, in leadership positions adds an interesting dynamic to the rivalry.

Given Georgia Tech’s resurgence and Key’s recent statements, former Georgia All-American David Pollack provided a fitting response to the heightened tension leading up to the 2024 edition of Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate.
