“Massive Boost” as Blockbuster Trade Has Raiders Deal Star Player to Rams for 1st-Round Pick

Despite uncertainties at the quarterback position, the Las Vegas Raiders seem fully committed to vying for a playoff berth in the 2024 season. The team boasts a significant amount of top-tier talent, with Davante Adams standing out as one of the premier wide receivers in the NFL.

However, Adams, who will be celebrating his 32nd birthday during the season, faces the challenge that wide receivers typically see a decline in performance as they advance into their 30s. While Adams has excelled in many aspects, including individual accolades, he has yet to achieve the ultimate goal of winning a Super Bowl. This accomplishment may remain elusive for him with the Raiders until they stabilize their quarterback situation.

Gary Davenport from Bleacher Report proposed a trade scenario suggesting that Adams could be traded to the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for a first-round pick in the 2025 draft.

“Adding Adams to that mix would give Matthew Stafford the most dangerous trio of wide receivers in the league,” Davenport wrote in a June 14 column.

“It wouldn’t be cheap—but there’s no general manager in the NFL more willing to deal first-rounders than Les Snead. 2024 was the first time Los Angeles picked in Round 1 since taking Jared Goff first overall in 2016. It wouldn’t be easy to get Adams’ salary under the cap, either—but teams play that shell game all the time.”

The Rams reached the playoffs last season and clinched a Super Bowl victory just three years ago. Adams would have the opportunity to remain near his family, a significant factor in his decision to join the Raiders.

An Insider Anticipates the Las Vegas Raiders to Engage in Trades as the Deadline Approaches

The Raiders are currently optimistic about their team. The defense has the potential to be a top-performing unit this season, complemented by many strong offensive weapons. Nonetheless, if the team encounters a tough start to the season, general manager Tom Telesco might lean towards offloading some aging veterans.

According to a June 13 column by Breer, there is speculation that the Raiders’ roster may need significant work, and it’s likely that the franchise lacks a long-term quarterback under the helm of first-year GM Tom Telesco. This scenario could lead to the Raiders becoming sellers by the trade deadline.

Breer also hinted that the team could receive inquiries about players like Maxx Crosby, although trading him may not be a straightforward decision, given his age of just 26. This contrasts with potential trades involving players like Davante Adams or Kolton Miller.

In the event that the Raiders find themselves with a 3-6 or 2-7 record nearing the trade deadline, there would be little justification to retain a player like Adams, particularly if another team offers a first-round draft pick.
