The Florida Gators have secured their second commitment for the 2026 recruiting class, with 4-star cornerback Jaelen Waters from Seffner (Fla.) Armwood choosing to play for Billy Napier’s program.

Ranked as the No. 12 cornerback and the No. 153 overall recruit in the On3 Industry Rankings, Waters stands at 6-foot-2 and weighs 180 pounds.

Following a visit to the Gators on Thursday, Waters has built a strong rapport with Florida’s secondary coach, Will Harris. They communicate frequently, discussing football and maintaining a close relationship. Waters appreciates the support he receives from the coaching staff and feels valued as part of the 2026 class.

Previously committed to Florida State, Waters opted to reopen his recruitment on May 30 before committing to the Gators. His decision to join Florida adds depth to their growing 2026 commitment list, which includes 4-star quarterback Will Griffin from Tampa (Fla.) Jesuit.

Waters’ recruitment journey has been eventful, with Florida offering him a scholarship in January, leading to his early designation of the Gators as his top choice. Speaking highly of his connection with Coach Harris and the overall environment at Florida, Waters cited the coaching staff’s support on and off the field, emphasizing the school’s comprehensive approach to student-athletes’ development.

However, just three months later, he pledged his commitment to the Seminoles again.

Expressing his decision to stay in Florida and join Florida State in April, Waters highlighted his admiration for Coach Mike Norvell and the unique support he received from the FSU program. He emphasized the sense of camaraderie and care he experienced at FSU, noting the emphasis on personal development both on and off the field. Waters appreciated Norvell’s coaching style, describing a mentorship dynamic where he felt like a son being guided towards his full potential.

During his sophomore year, Waters showcased his skills on the field, tallying 20 tackles (17 solo), six pass deflections, and one forced fumble.
