“Highly conflicting” as UCF Coach Gus Malzahn sells Winter Park home

UCF football coach Gus Malzahn and his wife, Kristi, have swiftly sold their Winter Park estate, showcasing the robust residential market in the Orlando area. The Winter Park mansion, situated at 1460 Via Tuscany, was listed and purchased within a single day, with the buyers agreeing to a price just below $6 million for the 7,500-square-foot property, equating to approximately $795 per square foot.

Brandon Geers from Compass, the listing agent, credited the rapid sale to effective marketing strategies and strategic pricing. The Malzahns had acquired the residence in March 2021 for $4.2 million at a rate of $554 per square foot, coinciding with Malzahn’s appointment as the Knights’ head coach.

The considerable surge in the property’s value reflects the thriving real estate climate in the Orlando region, as noted by Geers. The competitive landscape with limited inventory in the luxury housing segment of the Orlando metro area catalyzed numerous notable transactions in the previous year, including a groundbreaking $35 million deal in Isleworth.

Within Winter Park, located approximately 15 minutes north of Orlando, two residences commanded prices in the vicinity of $7 million in the same period. Although the Malzahns will be relocating, they have opted for a property just a short distance away, showcasing their decision to downsize.

“This residence offers an abundance of space for them, especially considering it’s just the two of them,” Geers informed the publication.

Constructed in 2009 by Winter Brothers Construction, the property boasts five bedrooms in the primary dwelling along with a guest suite located above the garage. Situated on slightly over half an acre of land, the home showcases distinctive Italian Calacatta Gold marble countertops, pecky cypress beams, solid oak flooring, and multiple cozy fireplaces.

The kitchen, highlighted as a standout feature, is furnished with top-of-the-line appliances. Outside, the backyard presents an outdoor kitchen area and a Hamptons-style swimming pool enveloped by hedges for added seclusion.

Heading into his fourth season at UCF, Gus Malzahn will be leading the team which became a member of the Big 12 Conference in 2023.
