Ohio State continues to secure commitments, with four-star Olney (Md) Good Counsel safety Faheem Delane being the latest addition to the Buckeyes. Delane has chosen Ohio State over various schools like Oregon, Alabama, LSU, Virginia Tech, Texas, Maryland, and others.
Ranked as the No. 44 overall prospect, No. 3 safety, and No. 1 Maryland prospect by On3 Industry Rankings, Delane’s rankings shift to No. 88, No. 9, and No. 2 in On3’s own rankings.
Standing at 6-foot-1.5 and weighing 210 pounds, Delane has been a key target for Ohio State for a while. The recruitment efforts began in late 2022 under former safety coach Perry Eliano, and the relationship was upheld by new safeties coach Matt Guerierri after Eliano’s departure.
Delane has visited the campus six times, most recently for his official visit over the weekend. He shared, “Every time I am there it feels like a reunion with me and the coaches. It’s all love and the atmosphere is like no other. The fans bring that juice, especially this time with it being their only night game. I can’t compare it to any other game I have been to. They are one of my frontrunners.”
Delane is the initial safety commitment in Ohio State’s second-ranked 2025 recruiting class. He joins other defensive backs like five-star cornerbacks Na’eem Offord and Devin Sanchez, as well as four-star safety DeShawn Stewart and three-star safety Cody Haddad. Additionally, the defensive class includes players like Zahir Mathis, London Merritt, Tarvos Alford, and Eli Lee.
On the offensive side, Ohio State boasts pledges from four-star Bellefontaine (Ohio) quarterback Tavien St. Clair, offensive tackle Carter Lowe, running back Bo Jackson, tight end Nate Roberts, and wide receiver De’zie Jones.
The Buckeyes initiated their pursuit of Faheem Delane more than two years ago, and now, with his commitment, they have successfully secured his allegiance to the team.
