The Calgary Stampeders have let go of defensive back Kenyon Reed from their practice squad as of Thursday.

Standing at six feet tall and weighing 180 pounds, this 23-year-old athlete hails from Sacramento, California. Reed signed with the Calgary Stampeders on May 1, 2024, and has been making strides ever since.

Early Days with the Stampeders.

Reed’s journey began with a solid performance during the preseason, where he played in two games and recorded one tackle. His efforts earned him a coveted spot on the practice squad. Just a few months later, on August 3, 2024, he was promoted to the active roster, showcasing the team’s confidence in his abilities.

In his brief time on the active roster, Reed played three games, accumulating 10 tackles and one sack. Unfortunately, his time on the active roster was cut short when he returned to the practice squad on September 1, 2024. Despite this setback, Reed’s potential remains evident, and fans are eager to see what the future holds for him.

Collegiate Career Highlights.

Before joining the Stampeders, Reed had a notable collegiate career. He started as a redshirt freshman at Kansas State in 2019 before transferring to San Jose State University, where he played from 2020 to 2023. During his time with the Spartans, Reed made a significant impact on the field, recording 105 tackles (79 solo, 26 assists), 6.5 tackles for loss, one sack, and one forced fumble. He also showcased his skills in pass defense with 12 breakups and two interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown.

Reed’s versatility extended to special teams, where he contributed with four kick returns for 27 yards and 12 punt returns for 95 yards across 37 games. His dedication and hard work earned him recognition, and he emerged as a key player for the Spartans.
