The BC Lions have officially announced the addition of American quarterback  to their practice roster.

Standing at 6 feet 2 inches and weighing 215 pounds, Armstrong makes his way to Canada after participating in tryouts with both the Kansas City Chiefs and the Jacksonville Jaguars earlier this year. A native of Shelby, Ohio, he played in 41 games for the University of Virginia from 2018 to 2022, where he established several program records in key categories. These include career passing yards, totaling 9,034, career passing touchdowns with 58, and career total offense, which reached 10,301 yards. Additionally, he holds the Cavaliers’ record for single-game passing yards, having thrown for 554 yards in a game against North Carolina in 2021. Armstrong also demonstrated his versatility as a rusher, accumulating 1,267 yards and scoring 20 touchdowns on 363 carries.

After his time at Virginia, Armstrong transferred to North Carolina State for his senior season in 2023. There, he set a new single-season record for the Wolfpack quarterbacks with 665 rushing yards, along with seven rushing touchdowns. In 12 games, nine of which he started, Armstrong completed 160 of 262 pass attempts, amassing 1,785 passing yards and throwing for 11 touchdowns.

This signing marks an important step for the Lions as they look to bolster their quarterback depth. Armstrong’s experience and record-setting performances in college football highlight his potential to contribute to the team moving forward.
