NFL Rumors: Trent Brown Out for Season After Knee Injury in Bengals’ Week 3 Loss
The Cincinnati Bengals are having a devastating start to the 2024 season, now sitting at 0-3 following their loss to the Washington Commanders on Monday night. The situation worsened on Tuesday when it was reported that offensive tackle Trent Brown, who was carted off the field due to a knee injury, will require season-ending surgery to repair a torn patellar tendon. ESPN’s Ben Baby noted that Ian Rapoport from NFL Network stated Brown is expected to make a full recovery.
Brown’s injury occurred in the second quarter against the Commanders, leading to the Bengals’ 38-33 defeat against a team guided by rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels. When asked about Brown’s condition post-game, head coach Zac Taylor remarked, “It doesn’t look good.”
A 10-year veteran, Brown signed a one-year contract with the Bengals this offseason after three years with the New England Patriots. He was part of the Super Bowl LIII champion team and received his lone Pro Bowl selection in 2019 while with the Las Vegas Raiders.
Following Brown’s exit, the Bengals replaced him with Amarius Mims, the No. 18 pick in the 2024 draft. This marked Mims’ NFL debut after he missed the first two games of the season due to a pectoralis injury sustained in the preseason. Mims was projected to be the starting right tackle before his setback.
The Bengals hope their streak of bad luck ends soon, as they entered the season with ambitions of reaching the AFC Championship and the Super Bowl. They need to quickly regain their momentum to prevent another disappointing season.
Cincinnati will look for their first victory when they face the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.
