JETS NEWS: New York Jets have already signed replacement for quarterback waived 3 days after signing him

The New York Jets released quarterback PeeWee Jarrett a mere three days after his signing, despite his quick rise in popularity among fans thanks to his distinctive name.Jarrett, an undrafted free agent signed on Friday, showcased strong performance with 32 touchdowns and only seven interceptions in his last season.

Fans were eager to see him vie for a spot on the team.Regrettably, PeeWee’s aspirations in the NFL were dashed when the Jets announced his release on Monday, choosing to bring in Andrew Peasley instead.

With the addition of Andrew Peasley, the New York Jets now boast a quarterback depth chart featuring five names. Among this group, four players are poised to compete for the final two roster spots, including the coveted role of backing up veteran signal-caller Aaron Rodgers. Tyrod Taylor, an experienced NFL quarterback, is widely expected to emerge as the frontrunner for the backup job. Alongside Taylor, Peasley and fellow undrafted rookie Colby Suits will remain on the Jets’ roster, vying for their own opportunities.

Rounding out the quarterback competition is Jordan Travis, a fifth-round draft pick who was a Heisman Trophy candidate last season. However, Travis faced a harsh end to his collegiate campaign, suffering a broken leg that caused his draft stock to plummet. The 24-year-old is currently in the midst of a rehabilitation process, racing against the clock to rejoin the Jets in time for training camp and the preseason, where he hopes to secure a spot on the team. The Jets’ quarterback room promises to be a captivating storyline as the team prepares for the upcoming season, with several players competing for the limited roster spots behind the veteran Rodgers.
