Buccaneers NFC South Rival Announces Impressive New Coaching Hire

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ path to a fifth straight NFC South title next season may have just gotten a lot more difficult.

After falling short last season, the Atlanta Falcons are doing what they can to improve their chances of a division title next season with the hiring of new defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich.

“The #Falcons are hiring Jeff Ulbrich as their defensive coordinator, per sources. A former NFL linebacker, Ulbrich finished last season as the #Jets interim coach. Now he reunites with close friend Raheem Morris in Atlanta, where they worked together from 2015-20.”

Atlanta fired former defensive coordinator Jimmy Lake just over a week ago, and general manager Terry Fontenot and coach Raheem Morris wasted no time finding a replacement. Ulbrich was promoted to interim head coach in New York last season when Robert Saleh was fired.

Ulbrich wasn’t really in the mix for any new head coaching vacancies but was under consideration to be the new 49ers DC after they fired Nick Sorensen. Ulbrich was considered by many to be the backup plan in San Francisco if the team can’t re-hire Robert Saleh as their DC.
