Chargers waive UDFA OLB Savion Jackson

The Chargers added Savion Jackson to their roster in April 2024 as part of their undrafted free agent acquisitions.

However, the team has now made its initial cut since training camp commenced, announcing the release of outside linebacker Savion Jackson. Jackson, who played for North Carolina State, joined the Chargers as an undrafted free agent after this year’s NFL draft.

At 6’2 and 263 pounds, Jackson was considered a long shot to make the Chargers’ final roster, as he was part of the team’s most competitive position group. He was also viewed as a bit of a ‘tweener,’ being tagged as an edge rusher but possessing the physique of a smaller defensive lineman. Throughout camp, his name had not come up in any discussions, whether positive or negative, so this development shouldn’t be unexpected.

With Jackson’s release, the Chargers now have a strong lineup of nine pass rushers remaining on the roster for the remainder of training camp.
