BREAKING: Kraken Sign 4-Year Contract with Talented 31-Year-Old Defenseman Valued at $ 5.25 Million

The Seattle Kraken and defenseman Adam Larsson are reportedly on the verge of finalizing a four-year contract extension, as per insider information. Elliotte Friedman suggests that the deal will likely average out to $ 5.25 million annually, securing Larsson’s services through the 2027-28 season.

Since joining the Kraken in 2021, Larsson has been a crucial player on the defense, and this new contract represents a noteworthy salary increase while still maintaining some cap flexibility as the salary cap rises. He has been a reliable asset for Seattle, having missed only one game since becoming part of the expansion team. In the 2022-23 season, Larsson achieved a career-high 33 points while forming a strong defensive pairing with Vince Dunn.

However, his defensive performance metrics declined during the 2023-24 season, raising questions about his ability to meet expectations as time goes on. Despite this, Larsson continues to be a valuable player for the Kraken as they look to strengthen their defensive lineup.

Larsson was selected by Seattle from the Edmonton Oilers during the 2021 expansion draft, choosing to leave Edmonton for personal family reasons. This extension will be his first with the Kraken, who also added Brandon Montour through free agency this year.
